What is Beyond Ego and Pride

On the spiritual path …

We meditate, conjugate, perturbate, and contemplate,
and yet there remains one problem here mate…

The pride of the ego that hides its face
while trying to own life’s events – in case

it can somehow gain merit through its personal accomplishments …
while in truth it’s achievements are like weak circus tents …

coming and going – blown by the wind,
never seeing its inevitable end.

For there is no “me” separate from life
divinely imbued with the power to end all strife.

And so, with the egoic sense of the self seen through,
life’s landscape can be seen pristinely anew.

Separation and fear can begin to fall away and
we radiate new light in this very moment on this very day.

No pride or ownership of perfection can we find,
for resting here we can see behind …

the me, yours, ours, and mine,
as a deeper truth begins to shine.

Humanness, sorrow, and joy, may come and go
But somehow behind it all – there does deeply grow …

this unwavering sense of what’s unbound and free,
untouched by life – or conjured up concepts of me.
