Challenges of Life and How to Still Know Freedom
Do you have Challenges of Life? Have you ever wanted to let go – or be free of emotions, a memory, a conversation, or the journey of seeking? The “how to” is the fundamental question. I’ll share something rather personal about what has become clear to me after 28 years of personally practicing, teaching, and coaching the power of letting go and awakened consciousness.
It happened in an instant. A year and a half ago while traveling in Europe for five weeks teaching and presenting at conferences, I looked down at my open suitcase one more time with clothes disorganized from my constant search for what to wear next, and I heard a very loud voice inside, “Stop.”
Stop living from your suitcase. Stop flying that body around this globe. Actually, and this was a big step, stop teaching The Sedona Method and all courses. After over two decades of teaching, (and loving it on most all levels) the inner message was to stop, not forever, just in this moment. No more planes.
Finally, I returned to home base, New York City, and finished my last course, and since that day, other than one prescheduled course in Sweden, for a year and a half I’ve stopped teaching. My coaching practice has continued in full.
So what is my rather personal sharing? During this past year, I had a deeply transformative personal relationship, began coaching investment professionals, and had time for self-reflection. I discovered amidst it all, that letting go was still a key to self-knowing. However, the essential component has become clearer to me now. It allows letting go to happen or it allows contraction to dissolve into more calm and a sense of unlimited being. It is unconditioned presence or awareness. This can be translated as unconditional love or perhaps profound acceptance. Simply put, it is the freedom from self-judgment – even for a nano second of time. It is the benevolent spaciousness in which all mind, sensations, and even self-judgment rise and fall. This edgeless awareness remains the essential nature of our being and in itself is the freedom we seek, yet mostly overlook.
How can this affect your life? I’ve taught and known this personally for years, and yet a new depth has been revealed and has altered my living and coaching. I will write more about this in coming posts, but for now, suffice it to say, if you’ve struggled with letting go or are ready for another level of freedom, you may want to try acknowledging if you judge yourself for wherever you are on your path. ANY JUDGMENT that this is “not right yet”, and “someday you’ll improve, or reach nirvana or freedom” is the very thought that keeps you imprisoned, and unable to directly experience your own unbound freedom in this very moment, even as you read these words.
Try it, just for a second. Look out of those eyes at these words, without self-judgment. What do you discover is here without it?
