How to Personally Deal With the Orlando Tragedy
How can we deal with such tragic violence as what happened in Orlando? I hope this helps …
It is sad enough to lose those we love, but tragic and painful to lose them to violence – and horrific to see that death happen before our eyes.
Additional to our pain of losing loved ones like in Orlando, is a rarely seen pain. It is the tragedy that in order to kill – one must feel separate from one’s own self where love, kindness, and oneness reside unattainable and deep within.
To be living and yet to feel separate from our very own self is to feel painfully lost. Feeling separate from our own love can be excrutiating. It can also be the source of our ability to project that separation and pain onto others enough to sadly take their lives.
We claim it is religion, race, homophobia, or anything else that cause murder, but those are ultimately just coverings for the pain of separateness that we already feel within.
This also gives birth to our impulse for the death penalty and war, to kill the killer: unfortunately an endless cycle.
It is only from this unconscious view of separation that we can knowingly hurt others. It causes us to attempt to alter the external world to bring us peace from our own inner pain.
Sadly, this will never work. Or thankfully it will never work, because it pushes us ultimately to look within where we can finally know the only lasting peace – and relate to the world from this.
If you’re not able to drive to Orlando to participate in a physical way or donate or call your Congressman, then you can still do something, and something globally important.
Use this event to cause you to more deeply address this sense of separation within your own being. It is the only true key to your finding the peace you seek – and to humanity shifting.
There is only one way to alter humanity’s inhumanity to itself and the earth – like in Orlando, Paris, Belgium, Auschwitz, Armenia, endless wars, the rainforest, the indigenous people’s, and the countless unmentioned events in history and today.
The only way to begin to end our inhumanity is to end our inhumanity to ourselves. Pause here. Take your time. Breathe. Lower your shoulders. Notice how unkind you are to yourself in thought or action at times.
It is only in this way that humanity alters course. You see, there is no humanity “out there.” You represent the species even as you sit here reading these words.
Any time that one of us looks deeply within and heals our own estrangement from our being, then a quiet quantum shift of humanity occurs – and we can sense the unifying reality within all life.
If you’re moved, by all means take worldly actions that serve the healing of Orlando or any tragedy. But also address the greatest tragedy that allows for all the others.
Recognize, let go of, and heal your inner sense of separation from your Self. Let your deepest nature of love have you for just this moment. Then if possible, take worldly actions from this love.
This is how you can serve Orlando. This is how you serve humanity. In this moment, you become humanity awakening to its own One self.
